Heterotopic calcification

چکیده
A 28-year-old woman with stage V chronic kidney disease (CKD) of unknown aetiology developed pain and stiffness in her right elbow. There was no history of trauma. On examination, there was a hard mass over the dorsal aspect of the distal triceps, but a near full range of movement. Plain X-ray (Figure 1) showed extensive soft tissue calcification within the triceps muscle. The heterotopic calcification was attributed to a high calcium-phosphorous product (8.4 mmol2/l2; normal <3.9) associated with CKD and

Growing Heterotopic Calcification in the Prevertebral Space of a Cervical Spine as a Late Complication of Irradiation: Case Report
Heterotopic calcification following head and neck irradiation has rarely been reported. It usually develops as a late complication of radiotherapy in patients with malignancies, including breast cancer, lymphoma, and genitourinary malignancies. The occurrence of heterotopic calcification in the prevertebral space of the cervical spine has not been described as a late complication of irradiation...
متن کاملHeterotopic Calcification: A cause for Zygomatico-coronoid Ankylosis
Zygomatico coronoid ankylosis is a rare type of extra articular ankylosis. The most common cause is Jacobs Disease, which is due to osteochondroma of the coronoid process. In this paper we present a case where in the zygomatico-coronoid ankylosis is due to heterotopic ossification, secondary to surgical trauma from previous operations. A literature search does not show any similar reported case...
متن کاملPulmonary Adenocarcinoma with Heterotopic Ossification
Pulmonary adenocarcinoma is a common malignancy that often involves calcification; however, bone formation in primary lung adenocarcinoma is extremely rare. In ten cases of primary pulmonary adenocarcinoma with heterotopic ossification, we detected immunoreactivity against TGF-beta1, osteopontin, osteocalcin and Runx2 in the fibroblastic stroma and tumor cells within the area of ossification. O...

Aim: To present the heterotopic ossification of left-sided heart valves due to rheumatic inflammation and biomineralization. Introduction: Calcification in the region of mitral-aortic continuity is significant at its origin and etiopathogenesis.
